About Us
Who We Are:
The Spirit of Joy and Service
Yayasan Sukacita Keluarga (CERIA) finds its origin in a wonderfully simple conversation. Over a meal, a young Catholic couple asked a Catholic priest what advocacy would be interesting and relevant for the needs of the world today. The priest immediately suggested the projects of Educhild in the Philippines, a foundation that offers classes on parenting and the revival of married love by dialoguing over case studies.
This conversation became the catalyst for action, leading to the first Effective Parenting Series session held in Surabaya in July 2024. Even though the Moderators came from a different country, the cases were highly relatable and relevant. It quickly became evident that the participants all shared similar concerns, longed for similar dreams, and faced similar challenges. The joy the couples felt after the course gave four couples the courage to establish Yayasan Sukacita Keluarga (CERIA) This formalization was done to enable official collaboration with Educhild and the IFFD.
We are now proudly part of the International Federation for Family Development (IFFD), the world’s largest civil society organization recognized by the United Nations and focused on strengthening family relationships across 68 countries.

How We Do It:
How We Do It:
The Case Study Method
Our courses and workshops are driven by reflection and a deep understanding of human dignity and the complexities of human relationships. We utilize the Case Study Method, a proven pedagogical tool that encourages participants to analyze realistic, typical family scenarios, discuss potential solutions, and apply universal principles to their own lives. This ensures the learning is practical, engaging, and directly applicable to the challenges spouses and parents face, fostering development in decision-making and communication.
Why We Do It:
Why We Do It:
The Mission of Shared Joy and Growth
Why do we dedicate ourselves to this work? The shortest answer is that we, the volunteers, are not standing outside the chaos of family life - we are right in the middle of it!
“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.” We are imperfect parents and couples who believe that the best way to grow is to learn together. Our involvement isn't just about sharing knowledge; it's about being part of the journey. We encourage everyone to exchange views on cases, challenge ourselves, and find strength in a community that acknowledges the difficulty and the mistakes inherent in raising a family in the modern world.
This shared, humble journey is how we build the resilient, loving homes that embody the joy of Sukacita.
(We're happy to explain the story behind the name CERIA when you meet us!)
Core Values of Yayasan Sukacita Keluarga (CERIA)
Sukacita (Joyful Connection)
Joy is the ultimate barometer of our success. We seek to cultivate a positive attitude that is loving and serving, finding fulfillment in creating a strong, supportive family life. The acceptance of responsibility is always geared toward achieving the good of each day.
Authentic Humility
We acknowledge the humility of our own responsibility. We are here to point to the universal principles and not the persons. There is a healthy ego needed in a sound person, but a healthy dose of humility that is always in place of safety, responsibility, and joy—when put together it works just right.
Collaborative Growth
We use the Socratic method of learning, where the emphasis is placed on the Case Study, dialogue, mutual challenges, mutual learning, mutual respect, practical application, and community. This fosters growth among the couples and participants alike.
Faithful Service
Our work is a commitment to the joy of others through service. We acknowledge IFFD's contribution and pray that we are planting seeds and helping the growth of the larger Ceria Family.
